The new baler has been designed specifically to improve bale density, transport efficiency, and overall site productivity, supporting Skipway’s continued investment in efficient recycling operations. ### Maximising Bale Weight and Transport Efficiency Rigid plastics can often present challenges when it comes to achieving consistent, dense bales. The REP-TEC SAMSON twin ram baler has been engineered to maximise compaction performance, helping Skipway produce heavier, more uniform bales that improve container payloads and reduce transport costs. By increasing bale weight, operators can reduce the number of haulage movements required while maximising material value per load. Colm Grimes, Managing Director at REP-TEC, commented: > “Rigid plastics are one of the more demanding materials to bale efficiently, so achieving high and consistent bale weights is critical. > > The SAMSON range is designed around delivering maximum compaction performance while maintaining reliable throughput and low operating costs. For operators handling rigid plastics, the gains in transport efficiency can be significant.” ### Engineered for Performance and Reliability The installation incorporates REP-TEC’s latest  control technology, including the ECO-DRIVE energy-efficient system, helping reduce overall power consumption while maintaining high compaction forces throughout the baling cycle. The machine’s heavy-duty twin ram design allows for continuous operation across a range of recyclable materials, while delivering the consistent bale quality required by downstream processors and exporters. ### Supporting More Efficient Recycling Operations The Skipway installation continues REP-TEC’s growing presence within the plastics recycling sector, where increasing pressure on transport, energy, and operational costs is driving demand for higher-performance baling solutions.
